A girl sits with her back turned, yet her gaze feels locked onto the viewer. Behind her, torn wings stretch outward with frayed edges. Some see damage. Others see defiance.
Wings was created when Yume sat with the sharpness of betrayal, the kind that comes from giving deeply, only to be taken for granted and hurt in return, often without acknowledgment. There was a lingering ache in that realization, but also a growing anger that refused to stay buried. As she worked on this piece, it felt like holding anger, grief, and clarity all at once, each emotion revealing truths that was long sensed but never fully faced. In that moment, she realized that what was broken did not erase her strength, but revealing it.
Wings is best in transitional spaces like a doorway or corridor, a reminder of your right to walk away from what diminishes you and the quiet power in choosing to rise again.
